Hello!
My mission is to provide our active community with scientifically backed, result-driven techniques to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and balance posture.
The beginning of the journey that started Urban BodyWorks started in 2005 working as a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in a very busy and fast-paced Sports Medicine Clinic. Most of our patients consisted of athletes, workers compensation (on the job injury), TPL (third party liability/car accidents), post-surgical rehab, neck, and back pain. I would often see patients who continued to hurt despite their strength, range of motion, and diagnostic testing coming back as “normal.” It didn’t make sense and I felt there was something missing. Turns out I was right!
In 2013 I was given an opportunity to expand outside the physical therapy realm and focus on my desire to get educated in holistic health. I am a graduate of The Wellspring School of Healing Arts, where I formally studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Amma Therapy. During this time I started implementing the Myokinesthetic System at work in the physical therapy setting and was genuinely shocked at just how fast and effective the results were with my patient’s musculoskeletal and nerve-related pain. This ranged from mild muscle strains to inflamed acute radiculopathies. This made me quickly realize what a unique and effective skill set I inadvertently created!
There is more than “one way up the mountain” to attain better health. I offer the best of both worlds using scientifically backed and studied techniques and the centuries-old wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Over the past several years I have been lucky enough to work with and learn from intelligent and dedicated therapists and teachers from both Western and Eastern perspectives. My vision is to help contribute to the transformation of our current Western health care model into a more people-centered, holistic, and integrative one by utilizing both Eastern and Western practices.
In good health,
Juliet
